1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using BookVocabs ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

BookVocabs is a web application that lets you upload images or PDFs of book pages, extract the text via OCR, look up word definitions, and build a personal flashcard deck for vocabulary learning. The Service is provided free of charge.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that infringes copyright beyond fair personal use
• Use the Service to distribute, scrape, or resell content at scale
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or otherwise harm the Service
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

BookVocabs is intended for personal educational use — reading books you own and building your personal vocabulary.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to content you upload. By uploading, you grant BookVocabs a limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you (OCR, definition lookup). We do not use your uploaded content to train AI models.

The BookVocabs application, design, and code are owned by BookVocabs. You may not copy or redistribute any part of the Service without permission.

6. AI-Generated Definitions

Word definitions are generated by AI and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. They are provided for educational assistance only. We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

7. Availability

We aim to keep BookVocabs available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding OCR accuracy, definition quality, or data permanence. Use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookVocabs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
